Children's Faith Formation

"You too, dear young people can be joyful witnesses of his love, courageous witnesses of his Gospel, carrying to this world a ray of his light." - Pope Francis

Welcome to Religious Education! Our goal is to help our children grow to become true disciples of Jesus Christ by building relationships with them, being examples for them and teaching them God’s Word.

1st Grade - 5th Grade

Religious Education classes are held twenty Sundays from August to May. Sessions take place at St. Malachy School from 8:45 - 10:15 am. allowing children to participate at Mass with their families in order to apply and reinforce the faith formation they are experiencing during the Religious Education classes. Although parents are the first teachers of the faith, it is important for children to learn about their faith with their peers and from other adults’ perspectives.

Vacation Bible School

What a wonderful week we had at VBS! Our theme this year was a great big beautiful world based on Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’ (Care for our Common Home).

112 students journeyed through stations of games, story and snack time, music and crafts to learn how God created and cares for the earth and how we can help Him by caring and preserving all that He has made.  Each day opened with prayer and a special Bible verse for the day.

Each day focused on a different theme and bible verse and all activities were theme focused.

One parent wrote “The week seemed to flow so smoothly, and the performance of so many little voices and hand motions was so sweet. We reflected on the way home that THIS week is an example of what makes our Catholic community so special. For all these young kids, they had fun being immersed in a very Catholic environment. We knew so many families from sports teams, Brownsburg schools, JAM/Religious Ed … but the common thread is we are all Catholic and the sense of community was certainly felt.”  A child leaving on the last night of VBS was heard saying after his mom said it was the last night, “what do you mean I can’t come back tomorrow night, I want to come back!”

Much gratitude and appreciation goes out to the 43 parent and student volunteers who helped with groups, stations, music and preparation! It does take a village and we are truly blessed to have such wonderful volunteers!

VBS occurs the third week of June every year, we would love to have you come join us next year! Be on the lookout for our new theme next April!
