Music Ministry

Liturgical

St. Malachy offers a wide variety of opportunities in music ministry: cantors, organists, pianists, violinists, guitar players, and choirs. Not only do they bring sacred music to the Holy Mass, but they also perform other wonderful musical programs, including The Sounds of Christmas and Tenebrae.

  • The St. Malachy Adult Choir is open to anyone and sings 2-3 Masses per month. The choir rehearses Wednesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and is always pleased to have new members.
  • The St. Gregory Choir, our Men's Choir, meets every Tuesday from 7:30 to 8:45 pm in St. Cecilia's room for rehearsal. Dedicated to the rediscovery of Sacred and Liturgical music, the choir explores timeless treasures such as Gregorian Chant, Polyphony, and compositions crafted explicitly for men's voices throughout history without excluding contemporary liturgical music that fits the qualities of Sacred and liturgical Music: Sanctity, Beauty, and universality. Through these works, we seek to honor tradition and elevate the soul through the beauty of music.
  • The Children's Choir rehearsals are on Sundays after the 10:30 Mass (11:40 am - 12:40 pm). This group sings for the Christmas Concert, Christmas Eve Mass (December 24 at 4 pm), and one Mass every Month until Easter.
  • The Teen Choir consists of high school and college students who want to participate in Mass through song.  The choir sings 4 times per year, along with Christmas Eve.  We practice twice before the scheduled Mass to prepare for Christmas.  All high school and college students are welcome to join. No experience is necessary; just be willing to sing.
  • If you are interested in providing organ or piano music for Masses. Do you play a string or wind instrument? St. Malachy utilizes our instrumentalists for Sunday Masses and our big concerts.
  • Cantors lead the congregation in song. A cantor may sing alone or in a small group.
