Sacristans

Liturgical

All young ladies in 6th—12th grade are invited to participate in our teen sacristan program. Sacristans are responsible for preparing the sacred vessels and vestments used in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. As a sign of their ministry in preparing the altar, the Sacristans carry up the gifts at Mass. Sacristans also ring the outside bells at the Consecration, calling all of the community’s attention to the moment the presence of Christ among us is made real in the Eucharist.

A sacristan must be in 6th grade or older and a practicing Catholic. This means she follows God's commandments by participating weekly in Sunday Mass and frequenting the Sacrament of Reconciliation. A sacristan must have received the Baptism, First Reconciliation, and First Holy Communion sacraments.
