Good news - - We have a beautiful week ahead of us, temperatures in the 70s and sunny?!

Construction news - - The closures at 900 and 750 and at 900 and 700 are not permanent.  Both intersections are scheduled to be reopened in about 6 weeks.

New information

• St. Malachy is happy to announce that we will have a chess team for the 2023 season. Chess team is available to beginners through experts in Grades 2-8. Registration for the team is at the link below and closes on September 5. https://cyo.orgsonline.com/Athletics_ParticipantRegistration.aspx

• Cans in your Hands is scheduled Tuesday, August 28. 

• Adoration and Benediction is Friday, September 1.

• No school on Monday, September 4: Labor Day

 

Cardinal Ritter High School Happenings

• CYO Night is September 8 at Marian University - see attached flyer

• Cardinal Ritter High School Parent Preview Night - September 19 at 6pm at St. Malachy. Learn about Ritter High School.  This is a great opportunity for 7th and 8th graders parents to learn about our deanery high school

• The high school prep test class is tentatively scheduled for the week of September 18th.  More information to come.

Extended Day message

Extended Day Payments--Your first invoice was sent to you Monday, Aug. 21st. Please let me know by email   if you did not receive the invoice. Payments ARE NOT paid through the Procare app. You may send in cash or check (to St. Malachy School) through backpack mail or drop it off at the front desk. If you would like to pay online, go to the St. Malachy School website, click on Shamrock Shortcuts, and then click on Morning/Extended Day, and there you will find a link to pay online. You may also add your payment to your FACTS account. Email Mr. Kiefer   and me if you would like to use the FACTS option.

School Needs

• Extended day is looking to hire a few people to supervise students after school until 4:00 pm or 5:00 pm. If you know anyone interested, contact Benita Wheeler .

• If you are interested in volunteering in the Cafeteria contact

Safety 

• Dismissal - do not leave until the parking lot attendant tells you to move.

• Morning Drop off - If you drop off at the back in the mornings, please park in a yellow parking spot. Then walk your child to the sidewalk. Please do not pull up to the sidewalk, to drop off in the back. 

• Dismissal - Please make sure you turn your engines off once you park in your parking spot and keep your engine off until we begin dismissing.  This prevents accidentally shifting the vehicle in gear. We close the parking lot at 2:54pm everyday, except on Wednesdays it closes at 2:24pm.

Information you may need at some point this school year

• On spirit wear and jeans days, students can wear uniform bottoms or jeans - no jean shorts. They do not need to wear a belt with jeans and spirit wear does not need to be tucked in.

• Late line - once you get to the school, you can park and walk in to get your child/children - you do not need to stay in line by the curb.

• Morning care opens at 6:45am.  It’s $1 per child per day. Please pay the day you attend.

• If your child is absent from school, call the office or email us at

• Don’t forget to log your family service hours. https://stmalachy.org/service-hours/

• During COVID we allowed donated items to count toward service hours. 23-24 school year will be the last school year that donated items will count toward family service hours. $10 spent equals one service hour.

• If you utilize Extended Day or are in the late line,  you will come in to let the office know you are here and then check them out.
