Bible Verse of the Week:

(Adapted from) Like 2:51 Jesus went with Mary and Joseph to Nazareth and obeyed them.  Mary remembered all these things in her heart,

Important Reminders:

  • Our next Scholastic book order will be due by Thursday, May 6 .  Digital flyers may be viewed at: https://editions.mydigitalpublication.com/publication/?i=667459  Paper flower were sent home recently.  Parents are welcome to go to www.scholastic.com/bookclubs and enter our class activation code: TDQFR.  If you are unable to order via the internet, I will be more than happy to process your order with payment.  This is an excellent opportunity to help our class earn books for our library.  Families may now have book orders shipped directly to home for free with a $25 purchase.
  • Cans in Your Hands for a casual day: Due to the ongoing pandemic, this effort is to provide continual community service to support the Brownsburg Cornerstone Food Pantry, which our church supports. The pantry has to turn away patrons when they run out of food. Starting on March 2, and on the first Tuesday of every month, (May 4) the students bring canned food to their classroom, and wear casual clothing that day. On their Mass day that week, the students carry the food to the bins in church. (Pre-K and Clover preschool donated food will be taken to church by older students.) A monetary donation may be made in lieu of food, given to your child’s teacher for the food pantry. Your donations are truly appreciated!  We will have Cans in Your Hands Casual days on Tuesday, May 4.
  • End of Year Party: Our end of year party is scheduled for Friday, May 14.  We will have a picnic style party outdoors.  Please stay tuned for an email from Ms. Schultz with sign up information.  We will be tie-dyeing t-shirts during this time.  We are asking that all students bring in a plain white shirt with their name printed on the inside no later than Monday, May 3rd.

*Parents may attend the picnic (without siblings) as long as you wear a mask and complete the COVID health screening provided by the school.  Please notify Mrs. Imel by May 7 if you plan to attend.  Students that do not normally attend school on Fridays, may attend the party ONLY with a parent present.

  • Wednesday May 26th is the last day of school, but for students it will also be Fly Up Day. This means students will go up to the next grade to hear a little bit about what next year will be like for them.
  • Friendly reminder, when on campus please wear a mask.
  • IMPORTANT NOTICE Attendance and Absences: In the occasion that after school plans change or your child is absent or will be late, please call the front office at 317-852-2242 and email me at before 8 AM and state the reason why your child will be out of school,  will be in late, or leaving early for an appointment.  Please be more specific than sick or ill, (ie. fever, strep throat, vomiting, etc.) that way we know what to watch for when your child returns.  The teachers enter the attendance by 8 AM and it would save us from cross referencing with the secretaries.

According to the St. Malachy School Handbook, "A student’s attendance is essential to learning. Learning is a result from active participation in classroom and other school activities which cannot be replaced by individual study. To help maintain our records for absences, please contact the school office by phone or email prior to 8:00 AM, no later than 8:30 AM on the day of the absence. When reporting absences, the parent should provide: 1.) Name of the student 2.) Reason for the absence.  If no call, the absence is unexcused."  We understand that we are in a unique situation with the current pandemic and have strived to keep our doors open so that students may attend school in person in a safe and healthy manner.  Your cooperation with communication and consistency is very much appreciated. Each minute of the school day provides opportunities for learning, and it is noticeable when students miss time.  *Even though preschool attendance does not count towards your child’s permanent record, your child's attendance does matter.  Children that continue to miss school days and/or are repeatedly tardy may find it very difficult to stay on track in the classroom.  Consistently being absent or tardy can make your child "stand out" and can make them feel uncomfortable, and also interferes with having a healthy routine that can help them grow socially and emotionally.

  • If you utilize extended day or are in the late line you can only TEXT(463)209-9650 no longer call the pickup line for it will not be answered.  In the event you must speak to Mrs. Wheeler please contact her at (317) 852-2242 ext 720
