Quick Reminders

  • Thank you to the parents who helped to plan our Christmas Party.  It was such a great time! 
  • COLD WEATHER - The cold weather is here to stay. The students need coats, hats and mittens please.  Mittens are easier for them to put on themselves.
  • MILK JUGS - Thank you for sending in so many jugs!  We have enough to build our igloo.

Unit Theme:  Food

Focus questions:  What are some food-related jobs?  What happens in a restaurant?

Religion

God’s Gifts of Earth and Plants:  This week’s story continues to help the children learn how the earth that God made for us is the source of our plants and our food.

Alphabet

Alphabet review.  Review of the letter Hh.  Identification and sound for letter Dd. 

Social-Emotional Development

Our lesson is, Proud to be Growing (Learning New Things).  

Book Time

The Apple Pie that Papa Baked, Little Juan and the Cooking Pot, Little Dog in Being Responsible, Dad Can Cook, Bunny Cakes, Good Enough to Eat.

Math

We will be doing the fingerplay “Five Little Monkeys.”  We will also be learning about  more and less with sets of counters.

We will take a virtual field trip to a dairy farm.

Pre-K STEM Happenings

Our theme for the month of January is “The Arctic.” We will be learning about arctic animals, the Inuit Tribe, and finally starting our IGLOO!! We have enough milk jugs to build our igloo. This week we will do a Blubber Experiment to learn how blubber helps keep Arctic animals warm. We will make Beluga Whales out of puffy paint and have a snowball fight. We will feed the narwhal some goldfish and enjoy our sensory bin full of insta-snow. 

For math, we are continuing with number identifying, counting, writing numbers, graphing, more than/less than concept and patterns.  We will continue working on the concept of addition and subtraction.
