Pre-K STEM Happenings
Our theme for the month of March is Lent, rainbows and St. Patrick’s Day. We will do activities for Read Across America Day such as using our makerspace supplies to build our own make-believe animals. We will also have the engineering challenge of building the longest rainbows using the materials of pipe cleaners, Fruit Loops and marshmallows. Uno cards will be utilized to reinforce greater than/less than skills. This will be a fun month!
For science, we will talk about the signs of spring and do a shaving cream cloud experiment. We will also talk about the 7 colors of the rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet - yes, INDIGO). You will probably hear about indigo at home.
For math, we are continuing with number identifying, counting, writing numbers, graphing, more than/less than concept and patterns. We will continue working on the concept of addition, subtraction, skip counting, and greater than/less than.
This week we are singing “The Lent Song”. Sing along at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsWfBQvStno
