Welcome to Middle School Science
Science is a course designed to help students learn about the world through hands-on activities, reading and writing.
EXPECTATIONS
- All rules in the handbook apply in the classroom.
- Follow all lab safety rules when performing a lab, experiment, or activity.
- Have a good attitude and try your best.
- Be respectful and responsible.
Absences
Check with the teacher the day upon returning to school from absence. A time will be scheduled to make-up missing instruction, tests, or quizzes. It is the student’s responsibility to meet with me and complete the missing work!
Grades
- Daily bell ringer 5%
- Homework 15%
- ISNB 25%
- “Labs” /write ups 25%
- Quizzes and tests 30%
Goals for the year
- Students will be able to recognize and utilize the scientific method in a lab/experiment/activity.
- Students will be able to communicate ideas and results using complete thoughts, sentences, and graphs when appropriate.
- Students will be able to explain if a hypothesis was proven correct and why or why not.
- Students will use a variety of tools to measure and quantify items.
- Students will be able to correctly use scientific vocabulary.
- Students will be able to explain grade appropriate ideas from Physical Science, Earth and Space Science, Life Science, and Engineering.
