There are a variety of committees with which parents can become involved.  They include:

+ Advent

Advent - The Advent Committee plans St. Malachy School’s spiritual journey to prepare for the birth of our Lord. Prayers, prayer services, and service projects are planned to help our students focus on the meaning of Christmas. A PTO parent liaison is selected to help plan and recruit any extra volunteers needed for projects.

+ Catholic Schools Week

Catholic Schools Week - The Catholic Schools Week committee plans the school’s week long celebration. Special events are planned in recognition of the week set aside by the National Catholic Education Association. A PTO parent liaison is selected to help plan and recruit any extra volunteers needed for projects.

+ Lent

Lent - The Lent Committee plans St. Malachy School’s spiritual journey to prepare for Easter. Plans include student activities in almsgiving, prayer, and sacrifice. Holy Week includes a Holy Thursday Prayer Service and Mary’s Way of the Cross, led by our 8th grade students. A PTO parent liaison is selected to help plan and recruit any extra volunteers needed for projects.

+ Marketing

Marketing - The Marketing Committee plans and implements the school’s marketing efforts with the goal of promoting St. Malachy School in a positive light and according to its mission. The committee evaluates projects and organizes events including the school’s annual open house. Other tasks of the committee include writing press releases, creating a parish bulletin page, and developing promotional pieces such as brochures and yard signs.

+ Red Ribbon Day

Red Ribbon Day - Red Ribbon Day promotes student awareness not to use drugs inappropriately and make good life choices. Activities are planned to help students commit to a healthy lifestyle. A PTO parent liaison is selected to help plan and recruit any extra volunteers needed for projects.

+ School Improvement

School Improvement - Saint Malachy is involved in a continuous process of improvement, setting academic, catholic identity and institutional goals. The School Improvement Committee consists of staff and parent representatives. An independent team of consultants works as liaisons between the school and the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, assisting with research, planning, and best practice models, in addition to providing the necessary tools to measure and document student improvement.

+ Technology

Technology - The Technology Committee advises the school on Information Technology and Audio-Visual Technology. It reviews future technology needs and recommends purchases. The current chairperson is Michael Jasiak.
