A Letter from Fr. Vince

July 9, 2017

Dear Parish Family,

This weekend we welcome Fr. Doug Hunter as our new Associate Pastor. This is somewhat of a homecoming for him as he served as a seminarian at St. Malachy one summer during his seminary days at St. Meinrad.  He was ordained a priest in 2016 and spent his first year as a priest at St. Pius X or the Northside of Indianapolis. Please join me in welcoming him to our parish community.

Next weekend there will be a missionary appeal by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, Kentucky.  They have been assigned to our parish through the Missionary Cooperative Plan of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis.  Sr. Marlene Lehmkuhl, SCN will speak to us about the work of the Sisters in the United States, Belize, Botswana, India, and Nepal.  Please support their efforts through your prayers and financial generosity through a second collection that will be taken up at all the Masses.

I hope everyone is enjoying the summer.  Rest and relaxation are a necessary component of all of our lives.  Indeed, I like to remind people that we are human beings and not human doings.  Our value comes not necessarily from what we do but simply from the fact that we are and that God has created us in His image and likeness. However, you spend this summer make sure to find time to reconnect with God and what it truly means to be human.

God bless all of you.

Fr. Vince
