Nov. 30-Dec. 4, 2009 

 

The toy drive is being held this week.  The last day to donate toys is Thursday, Dec. 3.  Toys should be new and unwrapped.  Thank you.

Please remember to send you child to school in appropriate outerwear.  Unless it is raining or below 32 degrees the children will have outside recess. 

The Christmas program is on Wednesday, Dec.9. It will be held in the old church.  Doors open at 6:15, and the show will begin at 7:00.  Second graders will meet in the narthex by 6:30.  There will be a dress rehearsal at 1:00 that afternoon. For the evening show students are to wear their Sunday best.

No extended day on Wednesday, Dec. 16.

 

Reading:  This week's selection is "Meet Super Croc."  The reading book will come home on Monday to have the selection read.

Phonics:  We will be introduced to diphthong oi/oy, suffixes -let & -ly, and trigraphs -igh & tch.

Spelling: We pretested over list #14. The final tests for the yellow and green lists will be on Friday.

English: We will work with past-tense verbs and letter punctuation.

Writing: We will continue our study of poetry focusing on imagery, line breaks and stanzas.

Handwriting: This week we will focus on spacing of words in sentences and letters in words.

Math: This week we will work with right angles, be introduced to multiplying by 2 facts, and equal groups.

Social Studies: We will look at tools of the past with tools used today, map scale, and natural resources.  A study guide will go home on Tuesday. The test will be Tuesday, Dec. 8.

Religion: This week we are focusing on Advent. We will also read and discuss the Gospel for Sunday.
