Week of November 23, 2009

Remember that you can order from the Scholastic Book Clubs through the first Friday of December..:),,,December 4.  I did receive one more book called Virtues.  I can only have 5 catalogues online, so I am sending this one home as a paper only order.  If you want anything from it, please also have it to me by December 4.  I will send you to send a separate check for this order, made payable to Scholastic along with the order form cut off the back and your child's name entered at the top.  I am sending this one because it looks like there are a number of holiday things inside.

I will not be showing a lot of plans this week.  I will be going on with math, phonics, and religion, and the rest of the time I will fill in with some things on which I am behind.  We also have a bus safety program on Wednesday morning and our Thanksgiving party in the afternoon.

Field trip information is coming home this week regarding a trip to the Benjamin Harrison Home.  Please watch for a permission slip.  There is a small charge to cover our bus driver and gas.  Our PTO budget is covering the cost of the field trip itself.

We will begin next week with a short Advent service in the gym in the morning. 

Religion: We'll complete a unit review this week and we'll then be ready for Advent activities.

Reading: Finishing up loose ends.

  Writing Workshop:  Ditto

  Phonics:  Letter V, spelling the final /k/ sound using letter c; assessment on Wednesday

  Spelling:  Assessment on Wednesday (not Tuesday if that is what I had..sorry!)  New lists will not come home until after Thanksgiving break.

 Math:  Drawing line segments, sorting common objects.

  Science/Social Studies:  A few loose ends; and Thanksgiving studies.
